So I've been spending time watching Let's Plays from CJU, which has inspired me to try a brand new game that I know nothing about. I chose this one because it's a point and click adventure and I have no idea about it other than it appears to be in the horror genre.
Yep. It's a horror game! In the opening sequence Fran finds her parents not only murdered, but chopped to pieces. She escapes into the woods with her cat, Mr. Midnight, but falls unconscious and wakes up to find herself in a mental hospital.
Where am I?
Now we get to the puzzle stage. The main task at this stage is for Fran to get out of her room and then, presumably, to escape from the hospital. So far the puzzles have been pretty standard adventure style puzzles. Find objects and sometimes combine them to use on doors, etc.
I managed to finally figure out how to read the notes on the nurse's desk and got my pills. It seems that somehow Mr. Midnight, even though I don't know where he is, has told me that the pills will help me escape. So I take them, and my room turns from this:
My Nice Room
To this:
My Nice Room on Pills
So yeah, I'd say this is a horror game. Pretty clearly, the question is going to be whether Fran is the murderer (despite the writing on the wall there) or whether there is a sinister being, that Fran and Mr. Midnight might have seen through the window just before finding her dead parents:
Who is that, Mr. Midnight?
I'm kinda stuck right now on how to get a key off the wall. I've got what I'm pretty sure is the implement I need to get it, although I wonder if I need some other item to complete it, or if somehow I need to get rid of the man sitting under the key. But I will figure it out!
So far this is intriguing and interesting. I will continue! It indeed was the right choice to try something completely new. I've got plenty of games I want to get to: Grim Fandango, the new edition of Sins of the Fathers, Sanitarium. But I have at least started all those games and I've been playing stuff like the Carol Reed games with which I'm quite familiar, so this will get me onto an entirely new track! Yay!
