What I'm Doing Here

Because I enjoy adventure games, I decided to start this blog and record my fun and frustrations as I play various adventures and some RPGs. I try not to spoil the games, so you can read and play, or play and read. I'm also reviewing some games, as I used to do in the past for Four Fat Chicks. I hope I'll spark your interest in playing, or at least entertain you with my musings. Please note that my musings are only speculations. You, or the game designer, may disagree with my opinions. At the end of each entry is a link to the next entry about that game, and you'll find a list of beginning links to the right, just under my cat's photo. Feel free to comment and play along! Enjoy!

Avernum Escape: 7

OK, I didn't do much tonight. Having spent all my loot on spells in Formello, I decided to try the Slith fort again.

Made a little bit of progress, but I need to get to a boat that's at a dock there in the fort, which will take me to a secret switch I can see but can't reach without the boat. In getting to the boat, I can't seem to avoid a major battle with virtually all the remaining ground floor sliths, plus one of their shamans.

And I'm just not strong enough for that yet. I did manage to last lots longer than the last time I tried, but nope. Not yet. I cleared out one side of the downstairs of the fort, though, and in Avernum games, the monsters you kill stay dead. A nice feature.

I managed to rescue some prisoners in a Slith settlement across the river, but that was only because when I freed the prisoners they fought on my side. I have got a few nice ranged spells now, and the group haste is good, but until I get group heal and a few more defensive spells I'm not going to be strong enough for these guys.

Didn't even get much loot.

So I wonder if I should try some wandering in the northern caves, or go to the great cave.

I will ponder upon it.

Meanwhile, I'm frustrated, but still having fun.

(I also got all of the first three Avernum games onto the Thinkpad, plus Blades of Avernum. Plus the first three Geneforge games. They all work! So I can still play the old classics.)
